METROPOLIS ENSEMBLE PRESENTS
WHEN A MAN LOVES TWO WOMEN
OPERA AFTER FRASIER BY DOUG BALLIETT
An open-workshop performance of a comic opera inspired by Frasier's "When a Man Loves Two Women" episode.
The very word Frasier has become synonymous with intelligent writing, universal comedy, and a kind of humor for the "well-read". There is something almost of Lorenzo da Ponte (Mozart’s frequent collaborator) in the teleplays for Frasier and composer Doug Balliett has chosen one of the most Mozartean episodes, "When a Man Loves Two Women” (from Season Five of the celebrated show) to set to music.
Bringing the idea to life are 14 outstanding musicians and singers including new music stalwarts Deviant Septet, members of Metropolis Ensemble, along with a cast of some of New York's finest singers.
