Having stolen the magical Rhinegold, which grants world domination to its owner, the sinister Drumf is now poised to become leader of the free world. The gold’s guardians, the beautiful Rhinemaidens Ivana, Marla and Melania, race against time to reclaim their gold from his grubby clutches. After the consecutive failures of Ivana and Marla, can Melania succeed in wresting the gold from Drumf before her time runs out?

Russian-Israeli composer Matti Kovler teams up with director Doug Fitch and a ragtag band of top tier NYC musicians (Claire Chase and others) to present a hilarious and biting political satire, just in time for the historic 2016 US Presidential Election. A 15-minute parody of Wagner’s 15-hour Ring Cycle, ‘The Drumf and the Rhinegold’ tells the story of the Rhinemaidens’ return to the human realm for one last fight against an evil overlord.

‘The Drumf and the Rhinegold’ promises to be a New York City Event. The exceedingly short opera is the centerpiece of an immersive installation offering audiences a window into the decadence and absurdity of Trump’s world against the backdrop of a 7,000 sq.ft. condemned space in a Manhattan tower. Told entirely from the perspectives of Ivana, Marla and Melania, the story doesn’t allow Drumf a word in edgewise. Honestly, he doesn’t deserve one. The farce culminates with a not-to-be-missed Drumf take-down in an inflatable pool.

Renowned director and polymath visual artist Doug Fitch known for his staging of ‘Le Grand Macabre’ with the New York Phil, directs the performance along with designer Peter Savieri (The Muppets). ‘Drumf’ originated at the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, in collaboration with Tasha Gordon Solmon, and was further developed during a residency at Pioneer Works.
